DIRECTING
Bringing dramatic and vocal expertise together
I was offered my first directorial opportunity in 2009, directing Cavalleria Rusticana for Harrow Opera. This quickly escalated into 7 operas for the London semi-professional circuit until I moved out of London and had to refocus my energies on raising children for a while.
I particularly enjoy working with young singers who need to develop their acting skills and working on characters and storytelling. The ability to produce honest, thoughtful and natural performances is of paramount importance to me, and my meticulous insistence on dramatic believability when in a theatrical context brings out passionate and confident performances in both scene studies and performance.
This being my sideline which I wish to develop, my deep understanding of the voice is an obvious advantage when trying to to combine passion and vocal display with sound technique.
CABARET - PROJECT FORMING
One of my favourite projects is arranging and producing cabaret or showcase performances. I have produced a number of cabaret shows for specific reasons
FROM POULENC TO PIAF - A Celebration of French Song
WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT - A musical comedy exploring the family dynamics around the common dilemma of being a teenager
